A celebration we can share
Imagine a friend sharing that she got the job, finished the course, or took a step she had been afraid to take. We get to be part of her joy. We can ask how it happened, celebrate the effort, and let her enjoy the moment.
Another woman’s good news can make our world feel bigger. We discover possibilities through her courage, and she discovers friendship through our delight.
At HER+ IN THE A.M. Houston, we want room for women to enjoy their gifts and encourage one another. Confidence, beauty, ambition, and humility can belong in the same life.
Remember what we have received
In 1 Corinthians 4:6–7, Paul challenges boasting by reminding believers that what they have was received. Gratitude gives us a generous starting point. We can acknowledge an ability honestly and appreciate the people who helped it grow.
We each bring something different. One woman makes a newcomer feel welcome. Another explains a difficult idea. Someone notices a practical need; someone else brings laughter. A community benefits when those gifts have room to contribute.
What do you enjoy doing, and whose encouragement helped you recognize it? Remembering that support may give us an idea for encouraging someone else.
Let favor lead to gratitude
In Luke 1:28–38, Mary receives an extraordinary announcement of favor and responds as the Lord’s servant. Her calling is unique, but her response offers a picture of receiving God’s kindness with humility.
When we speak of favor in our own lives, gratitude can shape our meaning. We can thank God for an opportunity without turning it into a measure of another woman’s worth. Her circumstances may be different, and there is much about her life we do not know.
Luke 18:9–14 also invites humility. Jesus contrasts a prayer built on comparison with a plea for mercy. We can come before God honestly, thankful for our gifts and aware that we all need His grace.
Make room for each other’s season
Sometimes another person’s celebration meets us during a disappointment. We can be glad for her and acknowledge our own sadness. A quiet prayer, time to reflect, or a conversation with a trustworthy friend can help us hold both.
We do not have to match achievements to remain close. Friendship can include celebrating a promotion, supporting someone through a setback, and enjoying lunch when neither of us has news to announce.
James 3:13–18 describes wisdom through gentle conduct, peace, and mercy. Those qualities can shape the way we share a room. We can ask a question, welcome a contribution, or give credit freely.
Offer encouragement we can mean
This week, tell a woman something specific you appreciate: the patience she showed, the work she completed, or the kindness you noticed. If she celebrates you, allow yourself to receive it.
At HER+ Houston, there is room for both of us: our gifts, our questions, our celebrations, and the seasons that require patience. We can learn something from each other without having to become each other.
Prayer: Father, thank You for what we have received. Give us joy in another woman’s good and gratitude for our own gifts. Help us make room for one another with love. Amen.
