A summary of the passage, not a Bible quotation.
01 · In its setting

What was happening?

After widowhood and migration, Ruth pledged loyalty to Naomi and to Naomi’s God. In Bethlehem she gleaned, married Boaz, and bore Obed.

02 · Read carefully

What does the text show?

Ruth’s loyalty unfolds through ordinary, costly choices and through God’s providence. Obed was Jesse’s father and David’s grandfather; Matthew names Ruth in Jesus’ genealogy.

03 · Bring it into life

Consider your response

Honor steady love and faithfulness in an uncertain season.

For prayer or conversation

Reflect together

  1. What did Ruth leave and choose in chapter 1?
  2. How does the ending widen the story beyond Ruth alone?
