Focus · Mark 12:41–44

Jesus noticed a poor widow who gave two small coins.

A summary of the passage, not a Bible quotation.
01 · In its setting

What was happening?

Jesus watched people give at the temple treasury and contrasted large gifts with the widow’s small, costly offering. Immediately before this, He warned about leaders who devour widows’ houses.

02 · Read carefully

What does the text show?

The passage sees her sacrifice; it should never be used to pressure poor women to give what they need to live. Read the scene beside Jesus’ warning about exploitation.

03 · Bring it into life

Consider your response

See the person behind the amount, and protect rather than exploit the vulnerable.

For prayer or conversation

Reflect together

  1. What contrast does Jesus draw?
  2. How does the preceding warning affect your reading?
